Super Saturday home buying bonanza: the busiest auction day of the year
Home buyers get ready, tomorrow is shaping up to be the biggest and busiest day on the property calendar this year, with thousands of homes going under the hammer.
It’s being called Super Saturday, with the real estate market looking to offload homes, ahead of a shutdown over the Easter long weekend.
Almost 3,700 homes could potentially change hands across the country.

So why the rush to sell?
Well, according to REA Executive General Manager Andrew Rechtman, “there’s two factors tomorrow, the first is economics, and the second is actually religion.”
“Next week is Easter, so people don’t want to be selling a house or taking it to auction on the Easter weekend, so they’re bringing it forward a week instead.”

The easing property market is also a factor.
“Prices have been soaring over the past few years, but a lot of owners are seeing prices coming down and are keen to sell,” said Mr Rechtman.
CoreLogic data shows Melbourne is expecting its second busiest Saturday on record, with 1,934 properties listed to sell.
Across Sydney, there are 1,255 homes up for auction, less than this time last year.
But, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth are all set to see a higher volume of auctions compared to 12 months ago.
